If you spend any time at all browsing the blog of thriller author JA Konrath you come away wondering why anyone would chase after the traditional publishing model of Write > Beg for Agent > Hope for Sale. Konrath has been ‘taking it back’ on the Kindle and his Kindle sales have driven him to more success with traditional print publishing.
It is certainly an amazing time to be an author, when books are on the verge of moving away from the dead tree format and the internet has put eBooks at the fingertips of readers everywhere in the world.
With only a few weeks of writing left to complete my first novel, Faith and a .45, writers like Konrath make you wonder if it is worth bothering with Query Letters, Agents or Publishers. Perhaps, all you need is a good editor and the desire to go things alone.
